Javier Benitez was on his way to a solid career as a top professional with 22 victories and a Vuelta a Espana start to his name. But in 2011 it went sideways when his team suddenly folded leaving the athletes with nothing in the middle of the season. In his first RHC race in Brooklyn, Benitez showed his strength riding in the lead group before fading back to finish 28th. In London, Benitez was present right on the front until being swept up in the red flag crash. This Spanish athlete has the ability to win in Barcelona, he just needs to dig for the motivation he had during his early pro years and put together a clean race. #redhookcrit #rhcbcn5
