In the Men's 5K Fikadu Teferi had a brilliant performance. First he bided his time on the first lap to take the prime away from a determined competitor at the very last moment. Secondly he didn’t let his teammate’s, and closest rival, blunder of miscounting laps affect him. Mengistu Nebsi surged ahead on lap three and stopped at the line but Teferi was clear headed and knew there was one more lap to go.
