Barcelona No.5 was Kevin Girkins first fixed gear crit. The Red Hook Crit rookie was brought on to Intelligentsia Racing by Colin Strickland to help the team be present at the front and cover moves. We all considered it to be a big ask of the first timer but Strickland was confident in his choice. Girkins exceeded all expectations, the American not only made it to the front of the race but was active all night attacking and covering moves. In the final laps he was able to avoid the late race crash of Stefan Schafer and finished 7th in his first Red Hook Crit. The footage of one of Girkins many attacks was shot on board with Strickland. His move get's space with Alec Briggs, Evan Murphy, and Marius Petrache  joining the party as Strickland lets the gap open.
